HR Generalist


Weishaupt Design Group is currently seeking an experienced full-time Human Resources Generalist responsible for supporting all Human Resources activities and initiatives across Weishaupt Design Group. This candidate will report to the Vice President, Talent and Culture.

Role Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the development and delivery of HR programs and services in the areas of recruitment and retention, employee relations, and most importantly training and development. The HR Generalist is dedicated to driving business outcomes by cultivating a highly effective and engaged workforce. They work closely with all teams and at all levels to improve talent development, performance, and feedback across the organization and helps empower employees to be as effective and impactful as possible.

Key Responsibilities:      

  • Advise and coach management with regards to handling all issues related to performance issues, policies, and process for employees
  • Develop, recommend and implement employee engagement strategies and initiatives, working with and getting input and feedback from managers and staff as well as looking at best practices.
  • Support the VP in the development and implementation of employee development programs including coordinating and leading learning opportunities for staff levels and sourcing external training opportunities and speakers as required
  • Own and drive internal communication strategy through the WDG Newsletters, updates to WDG LinkedIn page, Careers section of WDG website
  • Lead the recruitment efforts by identifying lead resources and candidates, providing meaningful job descriptions and influencing candidate selection to choose the most qualified and best suited candidate for position. Suggests alternative solutions for hard to fill positions.
  • Coordinate exit interview process for salaried employees; including conducting exit interviews, supporting managers and employees; compiling and reporting data to determine themes for future action.
  • Own and manage the HRIS system, updating and maintaining employees files, vacation information, employee reporting including turnover, head count, and tenure.
  • Conduct orientation training sessions for all new hires, promoting core values
  • Maintain and continuously update Employee Handbook, Employee Loyalty program.
  • Statistical employee reporting including turnover, head count, and tenure
  • Ensure best practices are followed by staying current with labour and employment legislation and HR industry developments.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources Generalist role experience
  • A passion for providing exceptional service through strong training initiatives
  • Previous experience with BambooHR, required
  • Extensive working knowledge of relevant legislations to ensure compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think, plan, act and execute strategically.
  • Strong communication skills oral and written including a demonstrated ability to persuade, influence and build consensus.
  • Ability to create and build strong working relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-directed and works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external contacts.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask, prioritize and successfully complete projects with conflicting deadlines and urgency.
